EXPLAINED.START WITH THE LIMITS
Hair transplantation is generally cosmetic. The ATO says cosmetic procedures do not generally qualify for compassionate release unless the treatment is medically necessary under the medical-treatment criteria and all other conditions are met. Approval is not guaranteed, and accessing super early reduces retirement savings.

A qualified hair-restoration practitioner should assess whether a procedure is appropriate. Hair Loss Access does not recommend a treatment, clinic or provider.
Our guides start with current Australian government and regulator sources and make important limits visible.
If you ask us to, we may pass your preliminary enquiry to a specialist application-support partner that will identify itself when contacting you.
We do not assess eligibility, prepare or submit applications, or represent the ATO, a super fund, a clinic or government.
FROM QUESTION TO DECISION
Hair Loss Access can explain general information and arrange a consent-based referral. It does not make treatment, eligibility or funding decisions.
Compassionate release is available only in limited circumstances. Read the current criteria before making a treatment or funding decision.
Discuss the cause of hair loss, suitability, alternatives, risks and likely costs with appropriately qualified practitioners.
Share preliminary contact information only. With your consent, we can refer the enquiry to a specialist application-support partner.
You remain responsible for information in an application. The ATO makes the decision and, if approved, your super fund handles release of the approved amount.
THE ATO RULES COME FIRST
Compassionate release is a last-resort pathway with specific legal and evidence requirements. A treatment quote or a diagnosis does not by itself establish eligibility.
The ATO explains when a current itemised quote or unpaid invoice is required and what it should show.
Medical-treatment applications generally need two reports, including one from a relevant specialist, in the form and timeframe the ATO specifies.
Applicants must address whether they have no other means to pay. Savings, assets, redraw, loans or payment plans may be relevant.
Never share myGov credentials. Keep control of your application and check any third-party information before it is submitted.
This is general information, not medical, financial, tax or superannuation advice. Read the ATO's current compassionate-release guidance.
OPTIONAL NEXT STEP
Leave preliminary contact details if you would like general information and an introduction to a specialist application-support partner.
Contacting a clinic directly instead? Use our first-enquiry email template to ask about its appointment and information-sharing process before sending records.
With your express consent, we may refer your enquiry to a specialist application partner and may receive a referral fee.
KNOW BEFORE YOU ENQUIRE
Always check the current official rules and seek qualified advice for your circumstances.
The current ATO guidance generally requires a current itemised quote or unpaid invoice and, for medical treatment, two medical reports including one from a relevant specialist. Requirements depend on the expense and circumstances, so check the current ATO page.
No. Pain or distress does not by itself establish eligibility, and cosmetic treatment generally does not qualify unless the medical-treatment criteria and every other condition are met. The ATO decides each application.
No. Hair Loss Access provides general information and consent-based referral only. We do not assess eligibility, prepare or submit an application, or ask for myGov sign-in details.
Early release reduces retirement savings, may be taxed and can affect insurance held through a super fund. Consider independent financial advice before deciding.
